As you are probably aware, full size American style Nascar racing arrived in the
U.K., in 2001. Known as Ascar (Anglo-American Stockcar Racing), this new formula began racing on the Oval circuit, at the brand new purpose built racing facility of Rockingham Motor Speedway near Corby, Northamptonshire, U.K. In 2002, the Ascar series will expand from the U.K. into Europe, with grids of up to 40 cars taking part. |
We have developed our own scale model version of this new formula, based around 1/10th
scale nitro-powered Touring cars, fitted with a Nascar (Ascar) style bodyshell. And
in 2002 it is planned to introduce electric powered RC Ascars as well! Right from the outset of this scale formula, we received endorsement from the full-sized formula, and this now continues into 2002, with support from Bob Berridge, of Oval Race Management. 2001 saw our scale cars racing at various model car tracks around the U.K., with several existing scale oval tracks hosting races for this new formula, plus a couple of circuit tracks involved in hosting rounds of a National series championship sponsored by Radio Race Car International magazine. |

Again in 2002 RRCI have offered to sponsor this series. And a new club known as Rockingham Model Car Club, will start hosting scale RC Oval and Road meetings for these cars at the very heart of U.K. Oval racing - Rockingham Motor Speedway ! |
